My Sandland Family
The Sandland name is
scattered all over the World. These pages are all about
the Sandland family and/or name mainly in the UK.
Information is constantly being added so please keep visiting.
According to my research, my
family came from the county of Shropshire, England with indications
that they, the Shropshire 'clan', migrated from Worcestershire.
Records show that most of the family members were involved in the
agricultural industry and worked as farm hands or labourers. During
the 1800's travelling seemed to become easier and some family
migrated towards London and became merchants or tradesmen (for
example, Jewellers and shop owners). Others are recorded to have
migrated to places in West Midlands, Staffordshire, Yorkshire,
Derbyshire and overseas.
During the 1800's, my Great
Grandfather Thomas moved from Shropshire into the county of Cheshire and
settled in the rural area of Stapeley, Nantwich. He had quite a
large family, 14 children, and most of the
Sandland named in my area (Nantwich/Crewe, Cheshire) descended from
of the Sandland named emigrated to other
countries such as the United States of America,
Canada and Australia. There are direct links in
my lineage to Australian Sandland families,
John Chesters Sandland
emigrated in 1847 and Robert (son of
(1918)) emigrated about 1960. There
are also three of the Sandland name who were
convicts and were transported, two to Van Diemen's
Land (Tasmania) and the other to Western
