Biography
Robert was born Abt. 1878 in
Stapeley, Nantwich and was shown in 1881 to be
living with his parents at 76 Broad Lane,
Stapeley at the age of 3 years. He was shown in
1891 census still to be living with his parents
at 44 Broad Lane (formally 76) at the age of 15 years.
He married Martha Ann Baggaley on 29th Jul 1894
at the Parish Church, Chester, both at the age
of 19 years and recorded to be living at 11 Mill
Street at that time. They later lived at 3
Arnold Street, Nantwich at the 1901 census
although Robert was away at the time.
By 1911 they lived at 7
Bowers Row (off Mill Street), Nantwich with
Robert's occupation recorded as a Telegraph
Labourer. They also lived at 11 Mill Street,
Nantwich for some time.
It is thought that they moved
to Chester and lived at 7 Bridge Street, Chester
for a number of years.
Robert was known to have had
the occupation of Chief Engineer with the
General Post Office (British Telecom).
