Biography
Robert was born Abt. 1843 at Rosemary Lane,
Whitchurch in Shropshire and was baptised on
17th Sep 1843.
Later in 1851 he was shown to have been living
with his parents at Lamb's Cottage, Hinton near
Whitchurch at the age of 8 years and was
recorded to have been a Scholar at that time. In
1861 he is recorded to have been working as a
Home Servant at The Cliffe, Hough at the age of
17 years.
He married Elizabeth Rogers in Malpas, Cheshire
Abt 1970 and they had six children in total.
By
1871 Robert is shown with Elizabeth to be living
at Hough Mills, Hough at the age of 27 years
with the occupation of Butler and Domestic
Servant. Robert and Elizabeth had a 1 year old
child by this time (Robert Dickin).
In 1881, 1891 and 1901 Robert is shown without
Elizabeth at 24 Queen's Gate, Kensington, London
as a Butler where he remained for over 20 years.
It is thought that Elizabeth continued to live
in Chapel Allerton, Leeds during that time.
By 1911 he was shown to be living at 48 Town
Street, Chapel Allerton, Leeds and still as a
Butler at the age of 67 years - his wife
Elizabeth was recorded to be with him and to be
aged 63 years. Their sons Robert Dickin and George
were also living with them at that time and both
recorded to be a Teacher of Physical Culture.
Robert died during the second quarter 1927 in
Wetherby, Yorkshire at the age of 84 years.
