Thomas was born Abt. 1787 and
lived in Cotton near to Whixall, Shropshire - an
agricultural area between Wem and Whitchurch. He
was baptised in Whixall on 15th Jul 1787.
He
moved to Cilowen, near to St Aseph, North Wales sometime before
1811 where he met and married Mary Evans (by
licence - granted 31st May 1811) in Rhuddlan
Parish Church on 1st Jun
1811.
Thomas was recorded to have
been a Farmer and he and Mary worked the farm at
Tre Criccin near to Rhuddlan, North Wales for a number of
years before moving to Tilstock, Whitchurch
sometime between 1815 and 1818. Whether they
owned the farm or were merely Tenant Farmers or
Farmhands is not known. The first two of their
five children were born at Tre Criccin.
Thomas' occupation on moving
to Tilstock was that of a Farm Labourer. He was
shown in 1841 and again in 1851 to be living at
Tilley near Wem, Shropshire with an occupation
of Agricultural Labourer.
By 1861 Thomas is
shown to be living with his daughter Elizabeth
and her husband John Brown in Tilley. Thomas'
wife Mary had died by this time and his
occupation was now shown to be that of a Widower
Labourer at the age of 73 years.
Thomas died in the Wem
district during the first quarter 1865.
